DFG funding: ultra-thin transition metal telluride films

Combo showing previous reslults on Cu and Ag.

The German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) has awarded funding to the group for the investigation of the growth and structure of ultra-thin transition metal telluride films. Such films find applications as thermoelectrics, sensors, phase-change materials, etc. But more intriguing are properties emerging from the non-trivial topological nature of their band structures particularly in the single-layer limit. The aim of the project is to grow a selection of systems by physical vapor deposition in ultra-high vacuum and investigate their crystalline structure and electronic properties.

The DFG grant number is 497265814.
