Daniel Niesner

The Niesner group explores the ultrafast dynamics in complex systems with nontrivial spin structures or significant electron-phonon coupling. These include lead halide perovskites, whose exceptional photophysical properties make them the candidate materials of choice for thin-film photovoltaics, carbon-based systems like graphene or organic thin films, and Rashba systems with potential applications in (opto-)spintronics. Two-photon photoelectron spectroscopy gives direct information about the femtosecond dynamics at surfaces and serves as the main experimental technique. Moreover, we apply a large portfolio of complementary femtosecond-optical, photo-transport, and surface-science methods to answer specific scientific questions.
